The Forest County Association of Lakes (FCAL) will be hosting their fall forum on Friday, August 14th, from 10am-12pm. The forum will be taking place at the Lake Lucerne Advancement Pavilion located at 4031 County Rd. W, Crandon. All are welcome to come join for a day of education and networking with other people who care for lakes! There will be 2 guest presenters who bring lots of experience in the field. The first speaker is Carol Warden who works for UW Trout Lake Station and she will be presenting on the essential role of zooplankton in lake ecology. The second speaker is Bob Martini who is with Wisconsin’s Green Fire and is a retired WDNR scientist who will be talking about the clean water act success story in the Wisconsin river basin. Before the fall forum, FCAL will be holding its August board meeting. If you are interested in attending the board meeting it will be from 9am-10am. Board meetings are always open for all to come. Bring your questions and other topics important to your lake!
The Forest County Association of Lakes mission is to facilitate education, research and sharing between organizations, governmental bodies and the general public of Forest County to protect Forest County inland water bodies, environments and watersheds for current and future generations, including but not limited to aesthetic beauty, water quality, wildlife habitat and fisheries. FCAL has 4 main objectives:
- Education/Sharing: To educate the Forest County Public and riparian owners of issues and to facilitate dialogue between organizations and governmental bodies.
- Long Term Planning: To participate in long term planning efforts regarding the water resources of Forest County.
- Regulatory/Enforcing: To facilitate efforts of the governmental bodies to enforce regulations which affect inland water body usage and water quality.
- Cooperation: To provide greater cooperative effort between riparian owners, riparian users, appropriate governmental agencies and the citizens of Forest County.
