The 2024 Forest County Association of Lakes essay contest is underway! 5th and 6th grade students at Crandon, Laona, and Wabeno schools are participating. This year’s topic is Our Changing Lakes and Streams. Students will be conducting interviews with someone familiar with a local lake or stream. They will prepare questions about changes in animal and plant life, human use, and seasonal and climate changes. Students are asked to consider any environmental impacts (positive or negative) of these changes.
Cash prizes of $100, $50 and $25 will be awarded to the 5th grade and 6th grade classes in each school. Winning essays will be on display at the Crandon Public Library and in the FCAL booth at Kentuck Days.
